Immerse UK has been working with industry and our Academic Working Group to craft a first of its kind competition for UK students building innovative ideas, experiences or projects for the XR industry to submit their work and show us what they’re doing and exploring. The awards aim to help connect students to industry, bring fresh ideas and talent, and bridge the pathway from academic learning to real world problem solving and cross sector applications, supported by Immerse UK’s founders and advisory board.

The awards announcement at the Immerse UK Summit at Beyond Conference in Cardiff on 19th October unveiled the first two industry partners, Arup and Edify, and highlighted the framework for the competition, which will be launching in January 2023. Arup and Edify will each be offering an internship to two selected grand prize winners from the awards competition.

Amy Chao, Community Lead for Immerse UK who works closely with the Academic Working Group, welcomed to the stage Damian Murphy, Chair of the group and David Edge, Associate Director Experiential Environments at Arup, to share about their support for the awards, its importance and potential impact for the XR industry.

Stay tuned for further news and details to come. Please connect with our team via immerseuk@ktn-uk.org if you’re interested to get involved as a partner, university programme, supporter or in other ways.
